Mandan Kiwanis Club Community Outreach
The Mandan Kiwanis club has extensive outreach in our beloved community which has lasted since 1952.
Mandan Kiwanis proudly offers three $1,500 scholarships for graduating seniors of Mandan High School.
We started the West River Head Start Book Distribution, which extends to about 125 West River Head Start students in Carson, Hazen, New Salem, and Mandan. With this program, students get to choose four books to take home for free each year to promote reading at home. With a similar program, Mandan Head Start Reading, our volunteers read to Mandan Head Start students four times a year. With the Mandan Head Start Beautification Project, our volunteers mow, trim, and clean up the grounds at the Mandan Head Start prior to the start of school.
Kiwanis has been involved as a major sponsor in youth baseball from our club’s inception over 60 years ago. Our club solicits funds from community sponsors to help sponsor the Mandan Baseball Program. This program is managed by the Park Board for about 650 youth. We also help sponsor 700 youth involved in spring and fall club soccer with the Mandan Soccer Club.
At the Kiwanis Park, Field of Dreams, we show our continual support for our youth baseball park.
The Mandan Kiwanis Club sponsors and volunteers at the Mandan Kiwanis Girls Track and Field Event on the 2nd Saturday every May.
We sponsor the Mandan High School Ultimate Party for high school students.
The Mandan Library Summer Lunch with Heroes Program is an exciting event every summer that we sponsor. Here, students and parents are provided a lunch and get to watch an entertaining program put on by local organizations. Our volunteers help serve lunch.
For the Universal Playground, we sponsor construction for all children, with or without disabilities, to play together. We help with any ongoing needs for this playground as well.
In August, we have our Annual Member Picnic with members, friends, and family.
We sponsor and volunteer for the Mandan Kiwanis Classic Cross-Country Meet every September.
We put on The Mandan Kiwanis Golf Tournament Fundraiser every year in August, and up to 32 foursomes are hosted by the Prairie West Golf Course.
Mandan Kiwanis provides financial support for youth to work and learn from local police personnel through the Mandan Policy Explore Post #2683.
Every year when the holiday season arrives, we ring the bell for the Salvation Army at Dan’s Super Valu for nearly 5 weeks.
The first Saturday of each December is the Kiwanis Breakfast, which is one of the biggest fundraising projects for our club.
The Mandan Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast is a spiritual event that we put on for the community every year. We coordinate and host this event.
We love taking part in the Special Olympic District Competition Event, where we provide lunch for athletes, coaches, and volunteers on the 1st Sunday each May.
In December at our Christmas and Awards Event, we celebrate the holidays and present our annual club awards. We also honor a community member who shows through their actions and words that they care for the youth of our community.
For Aid Inc. Care and Share, our club donates, volunteers, organizes food and gifts at the collection site and help sort for distribution in our community.
